Danka Kovinić wins the title in Trnava

Danka Kovinić beat Russian Margarita Gasparyan in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in the final of the EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 in Trnava on Sunday to lift her first trophy of the season.  

Strong wind made it difficult for both players. Gasparyan had better start into the game, but she failed to finish off the first set, despite quickly taking the lead 2-0 and being 5-3 games up serving for the set. Montenegrin player needed time to adapt to the conditions and she managed to grab the first set with a four games winning streak.

Allertova lost, Kovinic and Gasparyan are fighting for the title

EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 tournament is still expecting the singles final. On the clay tournament in Trnava, Margarita Gasparyan advanced into finals and won against Denisa Allertova (22) after the result 7-5, 6-2. The Monte Negro player Danka Kovinic (20) managed to beat the Latvian junior player Jelena Ostapenko (17) with the final result 6-2, 2-6, 4-6.

Mihalikova and Schmiedlova out of the tournament, Allertova in semifinals

The Slovak players had not managed to advance into the doubles finals at the clay tournament EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 in Trnava. The junior players Tereza Mihalikova (16) and Kristina Schmiedlova (17) had not managed to beat the serbo-croatian pair Krunic/ Martic and lost 2-6, 6-7(2). In the quarter finals, Denisa Allertova (22) was able to beat the second seeded Serbian Aleksandra Krunic (22) with the results 6-3, 6-1.

Smitkova, Allertova in the quarterfinals in Trnava

At the clay tournament in Trnava, EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015, all the Slovaks are already out of singles. This is also due to the Czech player Denisa Allertova (22), who had beaten the 18-year-old Rebecca Sramkova after the match resulting in 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. At the clay tournament EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015, Czech Klara Koukalova (33) lost the first match of the day. But after that, the Czech players did not stop winning the matches. Tereza Smitkova (20) managed to beat the promising talent of the Slovakia, Jana Cepelova (20) and Barbora Krejcikova (19) beat the Slovak Kristina Schmiedlova (17).

Sramkova is in the second round, Mihalikova lost

On Tuesday, the first round of the singles of the clay tournament ITF EMPIRE Slovak Open with one hundred thousand dollars prize money has finally started at the full speed. During the seven Tuesday's matches of the singles, a Slovak player has made an amazing surprise. 18-year-old Rebecca Sramkova beat the Russian Evgeniya Rodina, the 90th player of the world, in two sets 6-4, 6-3. On the contrary, only 16-year-old Mihalikova lost to the Croatian Petra Martic 4-6, 4-6 on the centre court.

Shahar Peer already in Trnava: Israeli with a Slovak passport

Shahar Peer (28) from Israel is a player who was previously almost a member of the top ten WTA rankings. Although she was recently struggling on the court, she is still optimistic and she tries to improve her game with her new coach. It may surprise you, or maybe not, but for seven years she has been travelling around the world with a Slovak passport. Interview with Schmiedlova: I feel more confident

No. 1 seeded at the EMPIRE Slovak Open 2015 Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (20) has begun a great tennis season. She played two WTA tournament finals and she won the first WTA title in Katowice of Poland. Then she became the leader of Slovak Fed Cup team in a tie against Sweden in April. Position No. 46 in the WTA rankings may not be her best this year. She revealed in the tournament bulletin what she thinks about her latest successes and how she felt one year ago, when she won the tournament in Trnava.
